The world has changed
The corona-virus pandemic is changing the world in a way we could not imagine, affecting the most vulnerable in society. World governments are trying to control the spread of the virus by locking down its population. This creates massive uncertainty and negatively impacts industries- such as the arts. Artists, technicians, crew and entertainment companies are one of the most affected as all large gatherings get cancelled. There is a need for innovative solutions to provide assistance to this industry.
Jozi Circus has a setup several strategies to offer support:
Rescue Programme for artists, instructors and technicians
JSC has a training programme with over 15 artists and most of them aren’t able to afford to keep up their training as they have lost their main source of income. Some of our students are from Alexandra Township, and they are even struggling to afford data to connect to the online classes.
As an NPO, we want to assist all the artists, instructors and technicians that we work with. You can contribute through:
donations
Any amount donated will go directly to artist training.
Online Classes
Jozi Circus has set up online classes to keep our instructors with work. Please support by joining the classes.
Private Classes
Our instructors are available for one on one, or private group classes. All proceeds will go directly to the instructors.
Fundraising shows online
If you are an artist who has a following and wants to assist other fellow artists, we can provide a platform! Jozi Circus, has partnered with The Cirk and AV active to offer a professional stage setup with video live streaming. Vocalists, bands, dancers, actors can stream perform live shows for the cause. All proceeds will go towards the artists and crew involved. Please send us a message to keep artists working.
Celebrity master classes
If you are a professional in your field (arts, academics, law, economics, business) and have one hour to share your skills, please consider donating a masterclass. Master classes will be offered on our online platform in order to raise funds for our artists.
Buy a mask
JCS has partnered with Indelicate apparel to provide cloth masks. 10% of every mask through this platform, will be donated to JCS to assist with operations. * JCS is exploring the possibility of establishing a manufacturing point for the masks. This will provide all our artists and the Alexander community with new skills and support them with new form of income for the next few months. Please contact us if you are able to offer support with this initiative.
